History

Storm Jameson Court was opened in 2010 and was built to a very high specification, with students of the future in mind, as well as conference delegates and short break guests.  This high-quality residence is named after Margaret Storm Jameson, an alumnus of the University who went on to write more than 45 books.

One of the main criteria was to produce a highly accessible building.  Again, this supports the University's accessible aims to offer university education to everyone equally. But it is also placed in Leeds a unique building, with 20 accessible bedrooms, which would appeal to any individuals or groups, who normally have to make do with unadapted, standard hotel bedrooms.

Food & beverage

The bedrooms are sold on a room-only basis (equipped with tea and coffee-making facilities), but a wide range of self-serve breakfast fare is available for purchase from the University Refectory, just 100 metres from Storm Jameson Court.

For full details on the Refectory and the Coffee Bars at the University of Leeds visit this link: https://gfal.leeds.ac.uk/where-to-eat/

Guests have access to fridges in the adjacent kitchens but please note, that cooking is not possible.

Grounds & Gardens

Storm Jameson Court is one of a group of buildings forming Charles Morris Hall. It is sited on the attractive and historic campus of the University of Leeds in a very attractive area alongside tree-lined Victorian and Edwardian streets. The campus has many fine buildings, from the wonderful Victorian Great Hall, designed by Alfred Waterhouse, and the art deco Parkinson Building to the contemporary Marjorie and Arnold Ziff Building.

The grounds of the University are open for guests to stroll around and enjoy tree-fringed piazzas and avenues, or to relax by the fountains at the southern end of the campus by the Roger Stevens Building.

The University campus has many fully accessible routes to all areas, with ramps and automatic or electric doors to buildings.

Other facilities

FREE Internet access.

PARKING: There is NO parking, only a drop-off bay at Storm Jameson Court. However, there is on-street parking in the streets around the residence, which is free at night times and weekends - BUT PLEASE NOTE THE LAMP POST SIGNS FOR TIME RESTRICTIONS IN ORDER TO AVOID COLLECTING A TICKET!

There is limited parking on campus, which is available on a first come, first served basis, please visit this link for details: https://carparking.leeds.ac.uk/visitors/. Lovely as always with very friendly reception staff. I had my entire day lifted on Saturday morning by the wonderful cleaner who came to see if I needed anything - she was so friendly and kind to me (I’d been upset and having a bad morning) and she really turned my day around so I would love it if she could be recognised for being such a sweet soul as well as so good at her job. I’m not sure what her name was but she’s a beautiful black woman with long hair and the kindest of smiles.

Loved being able to use the swimming pool and sauna at the sports centre. The pool table and relaxed atmosphere of the university campus was a much more interesting experience than staying at a hotel. Easy walk to the city centre and Uber rides pick up easily from the accommodation. Appreciated there being a hair dryer available. Really attentive reception staff too. Thank you!

Lovely stay in student accommodation. Single room, however bed bigger than a single. Good location. Excellent selection of teas in room. Good toiletries to use, but no body lotion. Ate in student union - amazing choice of food at reasonable price. Thank you, University of Leeds, UniversityRooms.

Great facilities for the price and location. I was placed near exit though and the exit door slams which disturbed my sleep. Apart from that ot was fine
