Overview

An independent bed and breakfast run by Tony and Dorothy Casey since 1986 with Michelin Guide rated accommodation status. The owners have refurbished the property keeping with the traditional feel of a Victorian home but have added an elegant, contemporary feel.

A bus stop is located just outside and the journey into Manchester takes 40 minutes. The metro tram system takes 30 minutes to the city centre. Manchester Airport is 15 minutes away by Taxi.

Your hosts are generous and eager to help you to discover and enjoy the surrounding area providing you with plenty of information and guides and pointing you in the right direction. 

All rooms come with flat-screen televisions, tea and coffee making facilities and free WiFi.

History

Built in 1872 by Sir William Cunliffe Brooks, Lord of the Manor and son of Samuel Brooks; he was an MP for Altrincham and Sale from 1886-92. His many benefactions to Sale and Manchester include a fountain on Ashton Lane, which is still there today (less the water) and the Brook’s Institute on Carrington Lane.

Food & beverage

A Continental breakfast is served Monday to Fridays 7.00am to 9.00am, Saturday and Sunday from 7.00am to 9.30am with a full English breakfast included in the price at the weekend. Monday to Friday the full English breakfast is available at a cost of £7.00, if required please add this as an upgrade when booking. Cooked breakfast consists of sausages, egg, bacon, tomatoes mushrooms, traditional fried bread, toast, fresh juices, tea and coffee. A vegetarian option or any other special dietary requirements can also be arranged.

Guests have free use of the car park to the rear of the property.

Directions: From the south follow the M6 and then on to the M56, leaving at J7. At the large roundabout take the sign for Altrincham on the A56. Cornerstones is exactly 4.5 miles from the roundabout on your left. 

From the North follow the M60 and from J7, turn right on to the A56 following the sign for Altrincham, after about 2 miles (after the Vine pub) there is a set of traffic lights where you need to turn right and then take the next left on to Harboro Road. Follow the road to the end and bear left for the car park.

By Bus: A bus stop is located just outside the front door and has buses running to and from Manchester every 30 minutes, the bus numbers that run on this route are numbers 263 and 264.

Nearest Metro Station: Brooklands. The metro tram system runs to and from the city centre every 12 minutes and is just a 5-minute walk away from Cornerstones.

Manchester Airport: Located 15 minutes away by Taxi.
