Overview

Welcome to the imaginatively named Victorian villa built-in 1865. It has been lovingly restored and every room is furnished with an individually designed four-poster bed. Every effort will be made to ensure you are made to feel comfortable throughout your stay.

Savour that fleeting weekend in a romantic setting with precious moments amongst Sanderson print and fabric and several Victorian original features. A perfect location, being close to the centre of historic York with all its fascinations such as the Castle Museum, the Shambles and the Viking Centre, York University and the Barbican Centre.

All rooms have a TV, radio alarm, hairdryer, ironing facilities, hospitality tray, free WiFi and thermostatically controlled central heating.

Please note: There is a minimum stay of 2 nights at weekends.

History

Built around 1865 still offering some original Victorian features.

Food & beverage

A full English breakfast is served from 8.15am to 9.15am Monday to Friday; 8.30am to 9.30am during weekends. A wide menu is available including full hearty breakfast of bacon, sausages, eggs, kippers, cereals, toasts, fresh juices and tea and coffee. Any special dietary requirements can be catered for but please ensure you request these in advance.

Other facilities

Shirley, our landlady, was very friendly and helpful. Breakfast was average and as we don't eat a cooked breakfast we thought there might be more than just apple or banana with the yoghurt eg nectarine, strawberries. A coffee plunger on the table would be nice.

We didn't have breakfast which was our choice, perfectly located for the Barbican centre. Host Shirley is great

Lovely people and lovely experience.
