History

Wycliffe Hall was founded in 1877 as a place to train evangelical clergy in the Church of England, and has since then expanded to take any student of theology.  It started in the main part of the current building (54 Banbury Road), expanding to 52 Banbury Road, which was originally a convent, in 1883.  The Chapel was added to connect the two houses in 1896 and is noted for its architecture and interior panelling.  Other rooms have been added over time, including a dining room (now lecture room) in the style of a chapel in 1910.

Food & beverage

A Continental breakfast is served in the hall each morning, including a selection of cereals, toast, yoghurt, cold meat, cheese, pastries, fruit juice and hot drinks.  Please advise at the time of booking if you have any special dietary requirements.

During the term, breakfast is served at:

  • 7:15 - 8:45am Monday to Friday
  • 8:30 - 9:30am Saturday to Sunday

In vacations, breakfast is served at:

8.00am - 9.00 am on every day.

Wycliffe Hall has a private garden, complete with garden furniture in the summer months. There is a children's play area, which guests with small children are welcome to use.

The University Parks are a short stroll from Wycliffe Hall, with the North entrance located just across the road from the Hall.

I had the best experience staying at Wycliffe Hall and I would absolutely recommend it to everyone. The room and facilities were nice and comfortable, the service was excellent and had a great location from the city center. Also the breakfast was really good !! 10/10 would stay again.

Excellent one night stay. Positives: location, free parking, warm welcome, really great breakfast with fresh fruit and home made granola. Negatives: When you're sharing a bathroom it would be useful to have a mirror in the bedroom.

We arrived after 9 p.m., and they welcomed us warmly and respectfully. You can experience a warm and friendly dining atmosphere. The praise of the service in the morning made this school even more special.

Amazing location, very friendly, one of the most powerful showers I've ever had, mattress too soft, so was slightly aching on waking up, sufficient breakfast. Would definitely stay there again.

Lovely big room and the breakfast was excellent. Good quality. They even kindly let us park for a little longer than we expected. Great for visiting the university and colleges.

Good value for money. Good location. Only thing to be aware of is it's an old building so plumbing, particularly in the shower, wasn't great.

Anon

Modest place with good car parking space very convenientt for Oxford town center.
