History

There has been an educational establishment on the Worcester College site for over 725 years. First founded as Gloucester College in 1283 by Benedictine Monks, Worcester College was established on 29th July 1714. The College has a long and rich history - reflected most notably in the diversity of the buildings.

Food & beverage

Breakfast is served in the Hall Monday - Saturday from 08:30 - 10:00, on Sundays from 09:00 - 10:00; continental breakfast is served on Sunday.

Grounds & Gardens

All guests can enjoy the 26-acre gardens and grounds, including the lake and the sports field. The College gardeners work in co-operation with the Oxford University Botanical Gardens and the Royal Botanical Gardens at Kew to oversee the grounds which contain several rare plants and trees and are considered to be among the finest historic gardens in Oxford.

The Lodge is staffed 24 hours a day, however, guests arriving after 5.00 pm can access the College by ringing the doorbell. Worcester College does not have any luggage storing facilities, guests must take their luggage with them on departure.

The College is located within 5 minutes walking distance from the Gloucester Green Bus station and 10 minutes walking distance from Oxford train station.

By Car: The College is unable to offer parking on site. The City operates a very convenient Park and Ride scheme.

By Train: A direct service operates between Oxford and London Paddington (approximately every 30 minutes), and between Oxford and Birmingham New Street via Banbury and Coventry. Other services operate from the north via Birmingham New Street; from the South via Reading; and from the west via Didcot or Reading. A taxi should cost under £10 from Oxford station to the residence.

By Air: London Heathrow and Gatwick airports are linked to Oxford by The Airline coach service, which operates a direct frequent service twenty-four hours a day.
